The Citadel

The Cairo Citadel, also known as the Citadel of Saladin, is a historic Islamic fortress overlooking the city of Cairo. Built in the 12th century to protect the city, it later became the seat of government for centuries. The complex is home to several mosques and museums, including the striking Mosque of Muhammad Ali. Today, the citadel offers visitors sweeping views of Cairo and a remarkable glimpse into Egypt’s medieval history.
