Moreover, many disciplines that are not primarily related to Computer Science and Electrical Engineering are affected by the recent advances in cybersecurity. Traditionally, cybersecurity was related to mathematics for building cryptographic primitives and engineering for building secure systems. This is not the case anymore, since cybersecurity is a much broader and more complicated domain involving many different areas of knowledge from Computer Science to several other sciences (e.g., Law).
","
Cybersecurity attacks are increasing over time, and they are expected to further grow in parallel to the emergent deep interconnectivity and technological developments (including and not limited to IoT, Artificial Intelligence, HPC, quantum, metaverse and satellite technologies). The fact that Security and Privacy have become an integral part of society and business functioning in the digital transformation, has resulted in an increasing demand for employees with cybersecurity skills as well as for cybersecurity specialists. Therefore, the diverse field of cybersecurity, which combines knowledge from different areas, as well as the very non-homogeneous nature of the audience, makes educating professionals in cybersecurity matters challenging. Higher Education Institutes must offer a cutting-edge and transformative cybersecurity professional education and training programmes that helps bridging the cybersecurity skills gaps and increases workforce. In this special session, we bring together researchers and practitioners for engaging in activities that will benefit the current state-of-the-art in educating and training professionals for cybersecurity, under the flagship of the Digital Europe Programme and Innovation projects, NERO (https://nerocybersecurity.eu/) and Cybersynchrony (https://cybersynchrony.eu). The special session will also provide a platform for identifying and discussing opportunities for best practices and improvements in cyber-security education. The insights gained from this special session will help to shape the future of cybersecurity professional education and training, ensuring that the workforce is equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to protect organizations from the ever-evolving cyber threat landscape.

        Download Call for Papers

","2025-10-08T12:41:08.990Z","2025-10-08T13:06:45.508Z","2025-10-08T13:06:45.501Z","264",[674,683
74,"Theodoros Karvounidis","University of Piraeus, Greece","2025-10-07T20:14:33.606Z","2025-10-08T13:24:47.289Z","181",[],"-130
"Kitty Kioskli","trustilio B.V, The Netherlands","2025-10-07T20:14:32.962Z","2025-10-08T13:25:18.071Z","179",[],"-128","-187
"SS2: AI-Enabled Transnational Education (TNE) in Engineering: Fostering Equity, Sustainability, and Ethical Competence","
Transnational Education (TNE) involves academic programmes delivered in partnership between institutions from different countries. In this way, ORLs do not only provide access to equipment but also contribute to a more inclusive and equitable learning environment by supporting diverse learners with different learning paces, needs, and backgrounds. With the increasing availability of AI-based support systems, the next research frontier lies in combining ORLs with intelligent scaffolding and adaptive feedback mechanisms. We are particularly interested in practices such as experiential learning, design for social impact, and community-centered projects, which empower students to connect engineering knowledge with the pressing needs of their societies. By examining these experiences, we aim to generate constructive discussions about resilience, adaptability, and creativity in engineering education. Another key aspect of the session is fostering exchange between different regions of the Global South as well as between the South and North. We envision the session as a collaborative space where participants can reflect on shared challenges-such as limited funding, brain drain, or outdated infrastructure-while also recognizing the ingenuity and resourcefulness that these constraints often inspire. Through case studies, interactive panels, and examples of ongoing collaborations, the session will illustrate how international partnerships, open-access platforms, and distributed learning networks can support the development of stronger engineering education ecosystems. Rather than framing the Global South solely in terms of gaps or deficiencies, this session seeks to highlight its role as an incubator of new educational paradigms. The initiatives presented will demonstrate how context-sensitive models of teaching and institutional development can enrich global debates on the future of engineering education. By convening this special session at EDUCON 2026, we aspire to create a dialogue that is both inclusive and forward-looking, where the diverse realities of the Global South contribute to shaping a AI and Cloud Transformation in Engineering Education","
This session focuses on the convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud computing in engineering education. Together, these technologies are reshaping teaching, learning, and institutional operations-from virtual laboratories hosted on scalable cloud infrastructure to AI-enabled adaptive learning systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms that support data-driven decision-making. The session will showcase research, case studies, and practical experiences that illustrate how AI and cloud can make engineering education more flexible, accessible, and responsive.
","
AI and cloud are not just tools-they are becoming core infrastructure for higher education worldwide. Their combined influence is timely and essential, as institutions face pressure to deliver high-quality education at scale, reduce costs, and address sustainability. At the same time, the ethical, security, and privacy challenges of these technologies demand careful examination. Without this, risks of bias, exclusion, and inequity may overshadow potential benefits. The EDUCON 2026 theme-"Human-centered Engineering Education: Empowering Sustainable Innovation and Ethical Leadership through AI and Digital Transformation"-resonates directly with this session. AI + cloud systems embody digital transformation, and when implemented responsibly, they can empower sustainable innovation and foster ethical leadership in engineering practice and education alike. This session will address both the opportunities and responsibilities inherent in adopting these technologies. This session will bring together a diverse set of voices: researchers exploring novel AI and cloud applications; educators implementing digital-first curricula; administrators integrating enterprise systems; and industry practitioners building scalable, ethical solutions. The global engineering education community will benefit from shared best practices, frameworks, and lessons learned, especially those relevant to the Global South where constraints often spark creative approaches. Beyond academia, the outcomes will inform industry-academic collaboration, workforce development, and equitable technology adoption in society, helping shape a new generation of engineers prepared to lead responsibly in an era of constant digital transformation.

        Download Call for Papers

","2025-10-08T12:41:14.220Z","2026-01-16T15:20:04.811Z","2025-10-08T13:20:35.763Z","275",[1177
105,"Tirumala Rao Chimpiri","Stony Brook University, USA","2025-10-07T20:14:46.608Z","2025-10-08T13:32:58.104Z","239",[],"-179","-198
16
"SS13: Assessment in the Age of Artificial Intelligence - Opportunities and Challenges Across the Examination Cycle","
This Special Session focuses on advancing assessment in education by leveraging innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), learning analytics, and novel computational models.
